Pop Up Hot Air Balloon Birthday Card & We R Memory Keepers Frame Punch Board

Image
I've loads of family and friends whose birthdays are in March, so today I have another birthday card to share. I used the Hot Air Balloon with Pop Up die set by Karen Burniston from Elizabeth Craft Designs, which creates the pop up mechanism, the balloon layers and two smaller clouds. The two larger clouds are from Papertrey Ink. The papers are all from American Crafts Fine and Dandy 12x12 pad. The banner die is from an old Papertrey Ink set (Stitched Sentiments), and the stamp is also from Papertrey Ink (April Mini Stamp Set). You can see the double pop-up mechanism better here. I added a frame to the bottom of the card, to write a message in, which I cut using my new Frame Punch Board from We R Memory Keepers. I really like this new board! - it's easy to use, and you can pick your own size for the outer frame, with lots of variation to the thickness of the frame walls. It also allows for rounding the corners if you want. Quite a few people ask me what I do to decorate the ...

Karen Burniston Oval Accordion Card with Sizzix Brenda Walton Dies

Image
Here's a card I made last week, using Karen Burniston's Accordion Oval Card die set for the card base, using papers from Crate Paper's 'Notes & things' 6x6 pad. I used the Accordion Oval panel die to cut the patterned paper frames, from which I cut away the centre oval part, and stuck onto white card stock panels. On the first panel, I used butterfly dies from Sizzix Brenda Walton's Floral Wreath Thinlits die set. I used some paper-backed burlap for one of the small butterflies, glued them on a patterned paper oval, and used my sewing machine to stitch along the centre. I decorated the frame with flowers cut with Stampin' Up punches, with White Nuvo Crysta Drop centres, covered in Mini Prills. For the second panel, I used oval dies that come with the Accordion Oval Card die set, and a bird also from Sizzix Brenda Walton's Floral Wreath Thinlits die set. The bird was cut from wood veneer paper. On the third panel, I used some more paper-backed burlap,...

Sizzix Flip-its Tattered Flower Garland Birthday Card

Image
Here's the third card I made yesterday, using the Sizzix Flip-its Circle 4 die set for the card base. The papers are all from Pink Paislee's Cedar Lane 6x6 pad, and I inked all the edges with black Distress Ink and a bending tool. The flowers were made with Tim Holtz's Sizzix Tattered Flower Garland die, which I shaped with a ball tool on a foam pad. I used Nuvo Crystal Drops for the centres, along with some Lemon Chiffon Mini Prills. I used Marianne Designs dies for the sentiment. The three cards I made yesterday. (See my previous blog posts for details of the other two.) Links to some of the products I used:

Hanging Charm Pull Tab Tattered Flower Hello Card

Image
Here's the second card I made today, using the paper flowers I assembled yesterday. This time I used the Hanging Charm Pull Tab die set by Karen Burniston for the card base. The flowers were made with Tim Holtz's Sizzix Tattered Flower Garland die, which I shaped with a ball tool. I used papers from Pink Paislee's Cedar Lane 6x6 pad, and Nuvo Crystal Drops for the centres, along with some Lemon Chiffon Mini Prills. The cards I made using the flowers. When the Hanging Charm Pull Tab mechanism is in its flat position, the card can be stood up like a normal card. When the tab is pulled, the frame part stands up. I decorated the frame with the paper flowers, and used a Stampin' Up punch for the arrow on the tab. Assembly of the mechanism is simple - Karen Burniston has a great video here , showing how to do it.  Also when the tab is pulled, a space is revealed, where I added a 'Hello' die cut, by Reverse Confetti. The rest of the papers are also from Pink Paislee...

Pop It Ups/Sizzix Flower Pot & Tattered Floral Card

Image
I made a load of paper flowers yesterday, with a flower pot card in mind, using Karen Burniston's Lucy Label Pop it Ups die set for the pop-up mechanism. I ended up making way too many flowers, so made three different cards instead. I made the flowers using Tim Holtz's Sizzix Tattered Florals Decorative Strip, and papers from Pink Paislee's Cedar Lane 6x6 pad. I edged each of the flowers with black Distress Ink, and used a ball tool to mould the flowers into a foam pad. For the flower centres, I used either a stamen punch with black Nuvo Crystal Drops, Bubblegum Blush Crystal Drops, or white Crystal Drops coated with Lemon Chiffon Mini Prills by US Artquest. The three cards I made today... (I'll blog the other two cards later.) For the plant pot, I used Eileen Hull's Sizzix 3-D Clay Pot. I used an old Sizzix Originals die for the mini tag, along with two heart punches. I used a Tim Holtz's Handwritten Sentiments stamp. Links to products:

Cards I haven't blogged yet...

Image
I was sorting out my photo files and found some of my cards I hadn't blogged yet: On this card I used the My Favorite Things Birthday Wishes and Balloons stamp set, and a chipboard cat.  I used a black gloss pen over the stamp, and a sunburst background stamp. This card for my Brother-in-law uses the Sizzix Framelits Flip-its Circle 4 die set, and a Sizzix/Stampin' Up alphabet die set. I used Copic pens to colour Purple Onion Design stamps, with Stickles glitter glue accents. This card is based on a card I saw on Pinterest by Mary Fish . I used the Sizzix Basic Step-ups card for the card base, Tim Holtz's diamond plate embossing folder, and Stampin' Up's Hardwood background stamp. I can't remember who the tool die set is made by. For this card, I used the Sizzix Circle stand-ups card base for this card, flower punches from Stampin' Up, with Nuvo Apple Green Crystal Drops centres. I used a stamp and teaspoon die from Love and Icecream sets from Reverse Confet...

Minc Mini Foil Applicator Gold & Floral Cards

Image
I bought a Minc Mini Foil Applicator a while ago, along with some Minc Reactive gold foil and Minc Toner Paint. I tried them out by sponging the toner paint over some stencils (Tim Holtz Flourish Stencil, and Stampin' Up stencils), letting the paint dry, then running the painted cardstock through the Minc Applicator with some gold foil. I like the beautiful, imperfect, vintagey look that was created (as well as the unbeatable shine!) Today I got round to finally making some cards with the foiled cardstock backgrounds. The first card has some layered up Maggie Holmes Open Book flowers, with some droplets of Heidi Swapp Gold Lame Color Shine Spritz. (I also painted some of the Color Shine onto the yellow rose, but it's a bit hard to tell in the pictures.) I used My Favorite Things Brushstoke Birthday Greetings dies layered over green vellum, for the sentiment. You can get a slightly better idea of the gorgeous shine here! The second card uses papers from American Crafts Saturday ...
